SKIPS Pre-School is a well-established family run setting owned by Mrs Sue Chesson for over 26 years.
SKIPS is committed to providing a happy, safe, warm, and stimulating environment for all children to play, learn and develop freely. We treat children as individuals with equal concern and provide consistent care. We help our children to develop responsibility for themselves and their actions to become competent, confident, independent, and co-operative individuals. We encourage children to have a positive attitude and respect for both themselves and other people.

Staff
SKIPS employs an enthusiastic, well qualified and caring team of staff who attend training courses to ensure they are equipped with the current teaching approaches, up to date legislation and practice.
The setting is led and managed by Catherine Scorey, who is a qualified early years teacher and she is supported by her Deputy Lisa Hutchinson, who is also our SENCO. We have a small team, who are all highly experienced and qualified to level 3 or higher. We also support and train apprentices.
All staff are safeguarding and paediatric first aid trained with Cath as the designated lead. The core members of the team have worked at the setting for multiple years and have a combined early years experience of 102 years.
All Staff have an enhanced Data and Barring Service check to ensure they are suitable to work in childcare.
Sue Chesson is the Pre-School Administrator.
Settling in
We want your child to feel happy and safe at pre-school. To ensure this is the case, the staff are happy to work with you to decide on the most effective method of helping your child settle. We offer two free sessions to allow your child to settle.
Working together
You will have the opportunity to formally discuss your child’s progress with your child’s key person who will be the first point of contact for parents. The key person will note a record of achievements and will regularly ask parents for input. This is done via an electronic learning journal App called ‘Famly’.
